A change in gender registration is only allowed once. This does not apply to children under the age of 18. Children, younger than 15 years old, can with the support of their custodians, request a change of their gender registration with Registers Iceland. When submitting an application for a child younger than 15 years old, the child’s Icekey or electronic ID must be used to sign in to the application form. Custodians must confirm the child´s application, by submitting form A-183, before the gender registration can be changed. An email will be sent to the applicant when the confirmation form is available for the custodians.
