For the registration of children born outside of Iceland and have a guaranteed right to an Icelandic citizenship. This includes children ofparents with an Icelandic citizenship and children adopted from abroad based on an Icelandic adoption permit.
If an Icelandic citizenadopts a child in another country based on foreign adoption permits, they can request to the have the adoption confirmed by the DistrictCommissioner. Upon confirmation from the District Commissioners office, the child is granted an Icelandic citizenship.
